The physical effects of anger include increased heart rate, blood pressure, and levels of adrenaline and noradrenaline. Some view anger as part of the fight or flight brain response to the perceived threat of harm. Anger becomes the predominant feeling behaviorally, cognitively, and physiologically when a person makes the conscious choice to take action to immediately stop the threatening behavior of another outside force. The English term originally comes from the term anger of Old Norse language. Anger can have many physical and mental consequences. The external expression of anger can be found in facial expressions, body language, physiological responses, and at times in public acts of aggression. Humans and non-human animals for example make loud sounds, attempt to look physically larger, bare their teeth, and stare. Anger is a behavioral pattern designed to warn aggressors to stop their threatening behavior. Rarely does a physical altercation occur without the prior expression of anger by at least one of the participants. While most of those who experience anger explain its arousal as a result of "what has happened to them," psychologists point out that an angry person can be very well mistaken because anger causes a loss in self-monitoring capacity and objective observability. Modern psychologists view anger as a primary, natural, and mature emotion experienced by all humans at times, and as something that has functional value for survival. Anger can mobilize psychological resources for corrective action. Uncontrolled anger can, however, negatively affect personal or social well-being. While many philosophers and writers have warned against the spontaneous and uncontrolled fits of anger, there has been disagreement over the intrinsic value of anger. Dealing with anger has been addressed in the writings of the earliest philosophers up to modern times. Modern psychologists, in contrast to the earlier writers, have also pointed out the possible harmful effects of suppression of anger. Displays of anger can be used as a manipulation strategy for social influence. In the Seven Deadly Sins, anger is known as the sin Wrath. From Wikipedia under the

Q. As much as it pains me to say this, there are certain people who I really hate. They tend to pop into my head the most at night and I can't sleep cause I feel so much anger towards them. What's good to take out these repressed feelings? Asked by illusion - Thu Apr 29 12:22:25 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I suffer from the same problem. There are just those some people who really tick you off, right? What I find a really good way of getting my anger out is exercise, particularly jogging. When I put my iPod on, and just keep running, it just shakes everything off. If you keep running and running you'll be too exhausted to think about it. If you do, a good way of taking out your anger is imaging in that you are confronting the person you hate, perhaps in a restaurant or at a social gathering (sorry I don't know hold you are) or if your older a club, and just imagine you are shouting your mouth off at them, telling them everything that you think of them. That always helps me. Answered by Postal-Delivery - Thu Apr 29 12:51:42 2010 How do you view the emotion of anger? Q. Do you see anger as positive sometimes or negative always? It is and can become a 'dangerous' emotion, if not controlled. Like when someone in the family or public becomes irritated over a minor issue and starts getting violent, damaging things, hitting people or even resort to using knives or other weapons--a tragedy is needlessly created. There have also been many road or air rage incidents time and time again, leading to injuries, troublesome court cases, and even deaths. All because of impatience and the wrong words or violence used. Most violence arise because of extremely obscene and insulting words used, which seem to come out automatically, because of years of exposure since childhood! The F***(...your ___),… [cont.] Answered by Fins+Wings{8 - 88} - Mon Jul 7 22:37:07 2008 What is the best Vitamin supplement to take for anxiety and anger?
Q. I am 31 years old. I have 3 kids and I am a stay at home mom. I feel anxious and depressed sometimes, and it's mostly about my children, which includes one lazy teenager who i do not get along with and I have anger outbursts with. I also workout 3 times a week and I am trying to lose a few pounds (I am 5'4" and 144 lbs). I don't want to go on any kind of prescription medication because I am afraid of side effects. Asked by KarlaS - Fri Oct 2 13:55:32 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I agree with Leslie as it is the B Complex vitamins that will certainly help with frazzled nerves as they are much needed for a healthy nervous system and your requirement increases with stress certainly. I would opt for a time release formula and B50 strength and take this twice a day in the beginning until you feel better then you can reduce to once a day [morning only]. Also a combined magnesium and calcium supplement might help. All these can help promote a healthy nervous system. Other than that some lemon balm tea might help and an attitude of just going with the flow and taking everything in your stride as stressing does not bring results but only frazzles nerves. Make sure you eat well...lots of veggies, fruit and quality protein.… [cont.] Answered by J-c t - Fri Oct 2 16:14:54 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Anger"
