emotion?????
Q. why do people respond to events in the ways that we do. have they been combed into certain beliefs, in hopes to fit in the crowd that surrounds them. there must be some thought pattern that causes the undefinable feeling that is an emotion, it can't be culture, because it goes all the way back to who knows when, and is all over the world, all the way down to tribal lifestyles. what would trigger such a reaction...really, in all nothing makes sense any longer, not that it did in the first place. well, i figured i'd ask the masses and see what they gave me, any one??

A. Many behaviours were formed during childhood. Interdictions, what is right and what is wrong. Indeed, living in civilization means repressing instinctual, erotic or aggressive drives - see Sigmund Freud, 'Civilization and its Discontents' for instance.

How do you put emotion into a piano piece?
Q. I learned how to play Fur Elise, but the only problem is I don't know how to put emotion into it. I hear other people play it and it sounds beautiful and full of emotion, but when I play it it sounds kind of bland. I'm only a beginner piano player. Any tips?
Asked by Caramel. - Fri May 22 20:05:46 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I agree with the person who says listen to other renditions of it. Beyond that, play along with those renditions. Play/Practice the song so many times that you never want to hear/play it again. At some point after that it will become fresh again. Let it be played by muscle memory of your hands and you will be more free to add nuance and imagination to it.

Q. Why is it important to define emotion? How do we define it1?
Asked by myyahoo! - Fri Feb 9 08:28:29 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. By defining an emotion, it helps me understand where the emotion is coming from. For instance, "frustration" or "anger"? If you didn't know the difference, don't you think that you can mistaken the two? It's easier for me to locate my problems through a series of identifying and eliminating certain emotions when I link the emotion to an issue(s)/problem(s). Unfortunately, I have this problem regularly because my emotions overlap.

How can I encourage and grow the emotion of unconditional love?
Q. I am interested in nurturing the emotion of unconditional love... I'm not asking about romantic love in this question. Thanks very much for any help. Please note that I do not believe in a God or any religions, so answers relating specifically to 'God' would not be helpful to me, although i'm always interested in ideas and other people's perspectives.

A. Hi Zag! I think that it all starts with unconditional acceptance of other people as they are, for what they truly are. And that starts with unconditionally accepting yourself as you truly are, whatever you happen to be at the moment. My therapist is showing me her unconditional acceptance for one hour each week, and for the first time in my life I'm experiencing its transforming power. If you can do that, completely accept yourself unconditionally, with all your perceived shortcomings and imperfections, I think you'll be on your way to accepting others, and then on to unconditional loving. That's just my guess, or course, as I'm far from it. It's not an easy task for me, I've discovered. However, you sound like you're already moving in… [cont.]

How do you test colors effecting emotion?
Q. I am doing a science fair project on if color effects human emotions. My hypothesis is:I believe that colors will effect a person's emotion because colors are associated with emotions. How would a person go about testing somebody on this?
Asked by inuyashagirl521 - Sun Aug 24 20:41:34 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You should probably tighten up your hypothesis...do you predict that different colors will bring out different emotions? Then state that. Get some large squares of colors...you decide what and how many. Put the color in front of the person along with a stack of index cards with words printed on them...one per card. Words should be strong emotions, like: love, hate, anger, depression, happy, sad...have the person choose the cards that describe how they feel when they see that color. Have a blank card...allow them to select if if they "feel nothing". That way you are controlling the colors, and the "emotions"...easier to analyze. You can see if there are differences in what is selected by color and sex. Expect male vs. female… [cont.]

What is the rarest emotion do humans feel?
Q. To me, love, hunger, anger, lust, fear and sadness are so common. Of course you can add more common emotions on the list but I would like to know the rarest emotion we humans feel. At first, my answer is 'superiority' but I always feel superior when I list my dreams. Think deeply. I absolutely do not know the answer. Most of us would say,"complete 'Whatever emotion'", but this can only be achieved by maintaining the feeling you already have. Altruism and selflessness are almost identical.

Please do not answer this question if you are not well acquainted with human evolutionary biology or a related field. I am also not asking why people hate each other, I am asking why we experience this emotion as a species.

A. Schizophrenia has emotionally detached stages (psychosis isn't actually considered a disorder all its own anymore) ..which fall into the category of formal thought disorders. Narcissism is a good defintion of the criteria you have discussed as well. Schizophrenia has a common characteristic referred to as "blunted affect" meaning an individual shows almost no emotion, as well as "flat affect" where a person shows no emotional at all. Both of these may be accompanied by anhedonia...a general lack of ability to experience pleasure.

Q. How can you justify what you have heard from a fortune teller, as knowledge? Can you use emotion as a way of knowing that what you hear is indeed true, will it be knowledge or just a belief, and why? Please help!
Asked by creamysodarevenge - Tue May 5 08:12:26 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I like what psychic John Greene has to say about psychic experience. "If you start thinking about it, you're doing it wrong. But if you FEEL it, you're getting somewhere." Well, first off, fortune tellers and psychics may not be the same thing. When having a reading from a psychic, they may validate some things about you, or some things in your past. This is a good sign. If you find that they are right on target with things in your past or current situation, you will probably feel more comfortable with their future predictions.

How do you put emotion into the songs you sing with your voice or actions?
Q. What are some methods of accomplishing this? Like one time I thought of an event a few weeks ago and I started breaking down into tears but I cant get that feeling back. So how can I put strong feeling/emotion in a song?

A. I had that problem for the longest time. My voice sounded dead when I sang. The trick is that you need to sing about what you feel. Even if you didn't write the song, fond songs about emotions you have experienced. Then sing your heart out. Don't worry about how u sound, just how you feel. Also, do NOT try to copy other peoples singing voices. Your voice is unique. Keep it that way. ;) hope this helps

How do you channel your emotion to music or paper?
Q. I'm a musician (piano and guitar) and usually when I'm writing a song I just mess around and play different chords. Once I've got the melody down I just write lyrics that complement the chord progression I've made. I also like to write short stories when I'm bored. When you're going through an intensely emotional stage in your life, how do YOU transfer this anger/depression to a creative work? I can't seem to make a song that truly expresses my emotion because I'm too angry or depressed to actually work on a good chord progression. I'm just asking your personal methods.

A. Well, I am not musically inclined, and I do not have the patience to go through the proper dynamics of putting things down and then putting them in order for a story, so I write journal entries, or letters to people. It gets it all out, and sometimes I mail them, sometimes I shred them, but I have to get them out or I will be a wreck. Congrats for your musical gift!

A. PRACTICE! WARM UP! First and foremost, NEVER push your voice to go higher if you can't. If you do you could possibly hurt your voice and damage it for the rest of your life. If you have a naturally lower voice there are a few techniques you can use to make sure you can sing the high notes. Make sure your posture is good. Imagine a string is attached to the top of your head and someone is pulling it so that your neck is straight and make sure your shoulders are back. Don't stand with your feet shoulder width apart unless you are comfortable that way. Just make sure that your stance is stable and that your knees are not locked. A way that you can stretch your voice higher is to practice your falsetto (your head voice). It's hard to explain… [cont.]

Asked by jellymarrow13 - Sat Mar 24 10:29:35 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It can be very easy to control ones emotions. When having conversations with others, do not allow them to illicit any Personal information from you - divert the questions back to them instead. Don't allow others to make "you" the focus of the conversation. Try to be neutral, and change your focus towards something neutral like the weather. Remember, the more you give in and break down, the more people will make you the target and keep you in the vulnerable state. When they are trying to get you to be emotional, let it go and avoid the confrontation - that's what they are looking to do.*** Good luck.
